Papaver 'Royal Wedding'

'Royal Wedding' is a spectacle in black and white, with huge blooms (lightly creased like crepe paper!) and a fascinating central pattern of golden-brown and black. Perfect for cut flowers or for a "summer snowstorm" in the sunny garden, 'Royal Wedding' is a sight to behold! These blooms are so showy, with pure white petals and 5 black marks -- sort of like footprints in the snow -- radiating out from the large, interesting center. The flowers measure 5 to 8 inches across and sway majestically above the 3- to 3 1/2-foot plants, creating a huge impact wherever they are set. Blooming in early mid-season, they are in time to complement the early-blooming Poppies, yet stick around long enough to gleam against late bloomers, too! Among the most commanding of all perennials, Oriental Poppies bloom lavishly throughout May and June, creating a sheer burst of vivid brilliance without equal. They will flourish in almost any soil provided it receives sun and is very well-drained.
