Coreopsis Tripteris 'Flower Tower'

The majesty of Giant Tickseed is not to be believed until you have it growing in your own garden. Easily reaching 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide, this improvement on the native species sets hundreds of blooms over a long, late season, then remains after snowfall to feed finches with its scrumptious seeds! While the species is content to toss up a lot of foliage and skimp on the blooms, 'Flower Tower' offers loads of 2 1/2- to 3-inch daisies of bright yellow-gold. They appear in gigantic bouquets atop the straight stems and crowded foliage, beginning in late summer and continuing through early fall (much longer than the species). Cut all you like for bouquets, but be sure to leave the last blooms of the season on the plant, because finches adore their seeds and will visit well into winter. It needs only full sunshine to thrive, tolerates any type of soil, is left alone by pests and diseases, and puts up with vagaries in the weather from drought to blinding rain, heat to cold.
