Wedding in White

The award-winning Wedding in White stars Carol Kan in her cinematic debut as Jeannie, an immature 16-year-old high school dropout looking for a life in small-town Canada during World War II. Desperate to escape her hard-drinking father (Donald Pleasence) Jeannie is raped and impregnated by her brother Jimmy's army friend (Doug McGrath) while he's visiting on leave. Jeannie's long-suffering mother (Doris Petrie) provides no solace, and matters come to a head when her father discovers his daughter's situation. In order to save the family name, he convinces Sandy, a middle-aged friend from the legion hall, to step into the breach and marry his daughter.
