The CT-S280 two-color printer is the first to be designed under the seven principles of ''Universal Design'', a series of guidelines created to allow design products and environments to be used by all people, to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design. Features of the CT-S280 that utilize Universal Design concepts include its drop-in paper loading and larger rubber feet for printer stability. Other design elements include a larger open button, small projections to make the cover easier to open and close and to provide quick access for simple cleaning.
