Frontier Natural Anise Stars - Whole, 1 lbs

Minimum 75% whole stars. Anise's warm, sweet, licorice-like flavor is often combined with licorice for use as a flavoring. Drug companies use anise oil to flavor many preparations, like cough drops, but particularly children's medicines. In the kitchen, anise seed flavors curry powders, cakes, candies, cheeses, rye breads, meat dishes, salad dressing, and fish sauces. Try it in cottage cheese, baked apples, coleslaw, fruit pies and fruit salads. While the seeds and their oil are the parts of the plant most commonly used, anise leaves can also be used as a garnish and in salads. A number of liquors and cordials from around the world use anise as a flavoring: Turkish raki, Latin American aguardiente, Greek ouzo, Spanish ojen and French anisette. Many people enjoy a bedtime toddy of warm milk with anise. Kosher.
