More like 3 1/2 stars.....: Trouble seems to find Mona Lisa, no matter where she goes. Mona Lisa is trying to settle into her new territory but she has a dark secret, one she has sworn to keep hidden from everyone. Her killing of Mona Louisa (see MONA LISA BLOSSOMING) has left her with some unexpected side effects, ones that could lead to her death if the other Monére find out. Prince Halcyon has offered Mona Lisa a solution, but how will the others react to the changes in Mona Lisa? Meanwhile, a new man has entered Mona Lisa's life and Dante has a secret of his own.... The series featuring the Monére is one best read in order. In particular, MONA LISA CRAVING builds on events that occurred in the previous books as well as in the two previously published short stories. This series is very character driven as Mona Lisa has been the heart that drives the stories forward. MONA LISA CRAVING finds her a bit adrift and unsure, sometimes even quite hormonal. The relationship she develops with Dante is brutally dark, almost too dark, as I struggled with accepting the rough and dangerous passion that flares up between them. Mona Lisa seems determined to make every wrong or difficult choice she can in MONA LISA CRAVING. I missed Mona Lisa having such a strong heart as it seemed that she was near breaking in MONA LISA CRAVING. Perhaps, as in most series, MONA LISA CRAVING is that necessary transitional book to show the character's growth. MONA LISA CRAVING takes a bit of a detour from some of the storylines that have been developing in the previous books. Many of the secondary characters I've come to love were not as visible in this story as Mona Lisa had to face some inner demons, ones she didn't even know she had. MONA LISA CRAVING will appeal to readers who just can't get enough of Mona Lisa and the dark world of the Monére despite lacking the depth of the previous books. COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES
Good, quick read...: This is another good book by Sunny. A fast paced, quick read that had me on the edge of my seat more than once. As far as characters go, Dante is a REALLY strong and intriguing character that had me reading as fast as I could for more. His strength, madness and superantural power combined make him a match for a Queen. Fortunately or unfortunately for Mona Lisa she's the Queen he needs to change his destiny--one that she cursed him into a lifetime ago!!! 4 stars instead of 5 for dialogue that waxed a little too poetic for me. Overall a great series, I can't wait for book 4 in the series.
Still a rip off but ok: Good quick read when your between books; but I still think she is a copycat with an unoriginal storyline. Don't get me wrong, the book is good, it just isn't AMAZING.
Not sure what the point of this book was...: This is the third book in the Children of the Moon series by Sunny. It was okay, nothing special. In fact I think I liked the second book a bit more. In this book Mona Lisa continues the mindless wandering of the second book. She ends up kidnapped and this circumstance winds up leading to a number of interesting consequences. That is really all I can say without giving away some major plot points of the book. Initially it appears that Halcyon is going to feature prominently in this book, which made me very excited. Unfortunately he is quickly dropped to the background. Amber is also scarce in this book. The man who dominates this book is called Dante, he is a rogue whom Mona Lisa meets when she is kidnapped. Having the characters past lives affect their actions was interesting. Unfortunately given the path of events in this book I am not really sure what the point of this book was. I thought things were being set up for some very interesting events to occur in future books, then all of that setup was dashed to bits at the end of the book. There was a lot of sex again, although I do feel that this book had more action than some of the previous books. Normally I would like the additional action scenes, but for some reason they didn't add much to the story. I didn't really like any of the new character additions either. I did like the inclusion of demon nature into Mona Lisa's character. Hopefully that will be expanded on in the next book. As I said, this wasn't a horrible book, just not great. Once again it was a very quick read, only took me a few hours to read it. Hopefully the next book will have a more cohesive plot and delve into some more interesting things about Mona Lisa's demon part. karissabooks.blogspot.com
Companion Short Stories-Must Read for Continuity: I was confused at events alluded to in the second and third books in this series, and discovered that Sunny's Mona Lisa short stories are not parallel additions to the Mona Lisa series, but must-reads for continuity. The two stories are found in two separate short story compilations (Over the Moon and On the Prowl). Read 'Mona Lisa Three' in Over the Moon between Mona Lisa Awakening and Mona Lisa Blossoming, then read 'Mona Lisa Betwining' in On the Prowl after Mona Lisa Blossoming but before Mona Lisa Craving. While Mona Lisa Three adds more dimension to the series, Mona Lisa Betwining' is necessary to understand the opening of Mona Lisa Craving. I recommend Lucinda, Darkly after all of these novels, though, as an independent story line, you could read Lucinda's tale at any point after her introduction to the Mona Lisa world (which occurs in the short story 'Mona Lisa Three').
