Book Description: The disciplines of international law and international relations are closely inter-linked. International law grows out of the international society: it reflects the particular characters of this society, and it also affects the relationships among the actors in this system. This book aims at advancing our understanding of the influences of international norms and international institutions on international cooperation. Contributors cast new light on the factors that enhance or impede cooperation among states. The insights gained suggest ways for enhancing states' incentives to cooperate through the design of norms and institutions.
