Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Fight Terrorism ... (ISBN 0670034827)

most inspirational story I've ever read:
when I first read this book a few months ago, I was in awe throughout the book. I decided that more people need to hear what Greg Mortenson is doing. I gave copies of this book to everyone I thought would read it for christmas this year. Greg's work is truely what it's all about.

Worth every penny :):
Greg Mortenson is a man who believes in miracles and makes them come true. I highly recommend this book to everyone who would like to see this world as a better place. Greg Mortenson's life and work is both inspiring and moving. We should all try to be like Greg Mortenson in that we will not be so selfish, will help others and work incredibly hard to create peace. On the way, helping Greg and CAI (Central Asia Institute) will help make that goal reality. Regardless of the flowery writing, this book should certainly be labeled a "must-read"

Inspirational book:
This book was given to me for Christmas and I had never heard of it before but I'm so glad I was given it. The story is amazing about what one man can do when his heart is full of a love and compassion that transcends nationality. I didn't know much about the people or situation in rural Pakistan and Afghanistan but this book has taught me so much and revealed to me a people who may not be Christian in their faith and may not be educated or even civilised but certainly know how to care for foreigners, have hope for their children, know how to self-sacrifice and live according to their deep faith. I was very moved by this book and the terrible suffering these people have endured and are still going through. Greg is doing a wonderful work, fighting terror through education, and should be encouraged. Read it!

Coming into Focus:
From the perspective of a young college student with my passions, identity, and future coming into focus, reading Three Cups of Tea was an incredible experience. I got it as a present during my Winter Break and once I started it, I was reading first thing in the morning, during every meal, and before I went to bed. The illustrative writing makes it kind of surreal because this true story is being told with such care and detail that it feels only an author of fiction dwelling in his own imaginary world could have produced it. The shock comes when you stop to realize that it is in fact real. Of all the people I've heard of, Greg Mortenson's single minded pursuit of his goals is rare. One reviewer refers to him as a real Indiana Jones, which sounds unfortunately sensationalist, but it's true. He traverses dangerous roads, gets imprisoned, and dodges gunfire to create relationships and fulfill promises to villages in need across Pakistan and Afghanistan. His personal sacrifice to his own health and time with family are also overwhelming to think about. Of all things, I find it most amazing that Mortenson (along with his friends and allies) is an opposing force to the destruction that America caused in its War on Terror, the travesty of which is an all-consuming issue for American affairs. After reading this book, I understand and believe the power of education for the first time. I am convinced that if our country prioritized education, we could diminish the wave of ignorance that reinforced the misguided wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the ignorance proliferated in the militant madrassas of the Taliban. This book has also given life to a pulsing spirit for adventure and exploration in me. The fast pace of his life and descriptions of Pakistani landscapes is thrilling and I am determined to see more of the world because of it. Mortenson's journey also inspired me to believe that I can and will pursue any passion close to my heart, whether an artistic career, traveling, a humanitarian cause, or a combination of them all.

Amazing:
Three Cups of Tea was not just inspiring. It was remarkable. I couldn't help comparing it to every day life and the way we treat our neighbors, or our children treat other children in school. This book should be incorporated into lesson plans at school.
