Jim Karas' Knows His Stuff! The ONLY Solution to Weight Loss:
I've personally met Jim and he is refreshingly on of the most genuine, caring, and honest people I've ever met. He is truly an inspiration. Both of his books offer some tough advice about weight loss (no gimmicks here!) His solution is the only to succeeding at long-term weight loss. Jim is constantly informed of new research and incorporates it into his writings. He is a contributing editor for Good Housekeeping magazine. A tip I would give readers: Carry this book with you as if it were your Bible. I'll be honest, I tried once and failed. But I revisited the book and found it motivating once again. Now I re-read passages daily to keep me going! It works!!!! Don't fall for gimmicks and fad diets. The truth is right here! You will never need another source for weight loss. I highly recommend you buy both of Jim's books: Business Plan for the Body and Flip the Switch. Both offer invaluable information.

Good Advice - Makes Sense:
This book is all about common sense. The whole science of dieting is all about numbers. If you can find out your metabolic rate and then plan your calories and exercise accordingly, you will be successful at weight loss. When you come right down to it, as Jim Karas mentions throughout this book - it is the amount of calories in versus the number of calories expended. I recommend this book highly because it helps you to determine how many calories you should be taking in and debunks many of the myths people have about why they are heavy. It also has a sensible exercise program.

Gets to the "bottom line" on weight loss:
This book is easy to read and very sensible. It helps you understand the basic facts about keeping fit, for a lifetime and not just based on the latest fad method. I found it to be educational regarding basics of nutrition and exercise. The importance of reasonable weight training to add more fat burning capacity to your body is a key factor that I learned. Also, basics on nutrition are a reference I have never stopped using. The book shows you how to calculate how many calories you must limit yourself to, in order to lose weight. Keeping track of calories in a daily diary really works, and most foods are identified as okay to eat, its all about moderation and being smart about what you consume each day and how much. I have lost 30 pounds in 12 weeks by following this book and its easier to keep at it because the concepts are common sense. Having read this book you will have excellent, medically based knowledge about the real science of nutrition and weight loss. Jim Karas is not insulting or condescending in his delivery; being overweight was something I did not like and I agreed with his perspective on it. I found it motivational. Jim encourages you to eliminate the excuse that one should accept the fact that you are overweight and that its "okay". Its not okay if you want to live longer and feel better and enjoy life more. You have to want to be healthy and be serious about it! Jim is right, without this mental shift you will not succeed in any weight loss plan. My best wishes to all of you who want to change your life and start looking and feeling better. Go for it, its well worth it.

Awesome book:
This is an excellent book, I highly recommend it. The author takes on the issue of weight loss in a very sraight-forward, no-nonsense fashion. He gives you valuable tips and techniques on how to go about the problem of losing weight. If you like things that are clear, not left to interpretation, and are a viable plan-- you'll love this book!! Bravo. Mary

Save Your Time & Money:
This book is very boring and noting new, just some basic advice on eating well and exercise that written in a different way. Jim refers to himself as a fitness/nutrition guru, yet he hold no formal education or training in exercise. He is not certified by any of the major and accredited trainer certification organizations. He also love to go on-and-on that holds a business degree from Wharton School of Business, which is great but really irelivent. A quality fitness trainer should be certified by a well respected and accredited organization, and hold a degree in exercise science, human movement, kinesiology or physical education.
