Good book, but using photos of 93 style 5.0 was wrong: Overall, this book has lots of good information but their coverage of the 5.0 engine was questionable. As anyone who works on the 1994-1995 cars knows, their are small but significant differences in the last 5.0's when compared to the 1993 prior models and when the author chose to use the old style engine photos I also question whether the specs published are correct for the 94-95 engine.
Not impressed: I was under the impression that Chilton was a reputable publisher of good quality manuals. I was disappointed to find pictures of the pre-SN95 engine. There are many differences between the fox-body and the SN95 Mustangs. Additionally, a couple of pages had pieces torn out of the middle of the pages, making the diagrams and information on those pages unusable. The tears must have been from the printers since I received the manual in shrink-wrap. If I ever have to buy another shop manual, it will definitely not be from Chilton. I'll give Haynes a try.
The EVAP stuff is wrong if you have CA emissions: Chiltons manuals are chiltons manuals. I'm not a very serious mechanic, but I try to tackle easy jobs myself when I can. I define "easy" as things that don't require exotic tools and don't require removal of more than one or two other components to access the component in question. I've had modersate success with this book. My big annoyance of late is that I tried to use it to help me fix an EVAP problem that is turning on the check-engine light and making it impossible for my car to pass inspections. To make a long story longer, it took me a while to figure out why the pictures in the book don't match my car: California emissions. Also, it'd be nice if the images were a bit clearer. As ever, Chiltons are screen printed on newsprint style paper. It makes the photos less hard to interpret at times.
Good, could be better: This is a fine repair manual... just don't trust the pictures. Almost all of the pictures are from an older model Mustang and don't match the 94-98 mustangs. Get the Haynes and use this as a supplement.
50/50: I'd say about half the things i reference are in here- still worth the purchase.
