FASCINATING INSTITUTIONAL HISTORY: A history of an organizations is often boring--filled with facts and figures and just plain puff. This breaks all the rules. It goes far beyond Fuller Theological Seminary, to catch the trade winds of the broader evangelical/fundamentalist movement. And, it's anything but a puff piece. It captures wonderful behind-the-scenes stories and scandals that no one before dared tell. It's a book that will never be dated---though Fuller Seminary continues on in the twenty-first century stronger than ever. I hope Marsden will one day put his pen to the task of historical analysis of Calvin Theological Seminary, including the pain and controversy I endured ("My Calvin Seminary Story"). Perhaps his ties to the Christian Reformed Church are too close for him to ever do that.
