A delightful and insightful travel guide for our journeys: I have read many, many books of this type: ones that guide us through the spiritual journey. This is absolutely one of the very best. As a spiritual director and occasional writer myself I tend to be critical of many publications, mainly because they sound like so many others or actually say so little. Fr. Albert's is fresh, clearly written, entertaining, and very perceptive--a travel guide on two levels! Wonderful! I've never been inclined to write a review for Amazon before, but this book I'd like for thousands of people to read. What that might do!
Great book for Lent: Our church study group is using this book and we all love it. The traveling monk does a great job of immersing the reader into that particular place and the days study or reflection. The book is good for indivduals or groups.
A special journey with a new friend: This little book revolutionized my Lent and hopefully my life. I longed for the morning to come and go places with Father Albert...geographically and spiritually. He challenged me areas that I did not know the Holy Spirit needed to speak to. May you be blessed as I was.
Not just for Lent: This is a superb book which is a very easy read but packs a powerful punch. The various stories are very interesting and give a good insight into one monk's sabbatical year. The meditations and quotes from the Rule of St Benedict are very apt and tie in easily with the Mass readings of the day. But it is not just for Lent - Lent is not long enough to do justice to the book - it can turn into a life changing read. A wonderful book which I thoroughly enjoyed and have given as presents to a few friends.
