hummm: brings up some good questions. Your man will hate this book but you just have to ask sometimes lol. Good book.
Their heart is in the right place: The concept of the book is fabulous. However, most of the questions are written from the pre-supposition that both parties do not come from broken homes. My wife's parents are still married, mine divorced when I was five. So, I was not able to answer the questions in the same way she did. I would have appreciated it if the authors would have kept this in mind when writing the questions. Otherwise, no complaints. The questions are very comprehensive and really get you and your partner talking about important issues - Issues that may have not come up otherwise. 3 stars.
Good book, but not the best: We are using this book since a class we are doing is using it as the curriculum. The book itself has some great discussion points and as other reviewers have mentioned it is geared towards Christian couples. However, my fiance and I started going through Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott "How to Save Your Marriage Before it Starts" and we found that one a lot more interesting to read and go through. This book has a lot of complex scoring and it's hard to put a numerical score on a relationship. Overall, it does bring up key issues you may not have considered before.
Getting married?: This is a workbook. It gives you a few pages to read and then questions for you and your partner to consider. It is a great way to discuss all areas of your relationship. It gives you a chance to get differences out into the open and resolve them before the I do's. You enter into your marriage with full knowledge of how each other were raised, what you expect your role to be and also your partner's role, finances, beliefs, etc. Definite must read.
A must-read if you are getting married!: This is a great book and we would highly recommend it. Covers all the bases and is good for initiating conversations about important marriage issues.
