After reading this book I wish I had met Sri Yukteshwar personally. While the energy as true as it is of Yogananda, it did not resonate to me like that of Sri Yukteshwar. I consider him a guru and a true source of God experience. This book is short but I still treasure it in my library. Jai Gurudev, ESL

Sri Yukteshwar, A true light for mankind!:
I first read this book as a young student perhaps forty years ago and I just loved it. I recently sent it to one of my best friends who is a spiritually advanced psychotherapist. She just couldn't put it down and ecstaticly engulfed it in one sitting. It is packed with explosive spiritual insight that will bring you to new depths and horizons in spirituality. Hold onto your hat! Wow!!!! I had to buy a copy for myself to reread. This great soul is just .....(no words). I simply revere him. What a beautiful small packaged gift he left us by preserving his knowledge in this way. Yukteahwar is amazing. We are all blessed by his dedication to us.

Essence of Spirituality:
This book for me gives a complete summary of spirituality and health. It explains in great detail what is involved in spiritual advancement and gives simple prescriptions for healthy spiritual living.

An intriguing signpost:
If you want to taste a sample of the wisdom behind part of the instruction of Paramahansa Yogananda, this is pretty much it. HOLY SCIENCE is the only book Sri Yukteswar was asked to write, from a truly wondrous lineage of divine beings. But don't go expecting the complete answers from THE HOLY SCIENCE; for me it created more questions than answers. Which is pretty neat really, a book can ever only show part of the way. Although a short book essentially discussing various Hindu spiritual principles and almanac calendar erros, still a useful, most intriguing signpost; and not the destination. Not bad for 1894! I'm not a Kriya (truth) Yoga initiate, and you don't have to be. Truth is universal in that we know it best by what it ultimately invokes in each one of us, if we have the awareness!

Like divine nectar:
Swami Yukteswar's writing is powerful. His words are distilled and pure. In The Holy Science the reader is given an opportunity to understand the cyclic nature of our planet in relation to the sun, it's dual star and the universe. One learns about the 4 ages, Satva, Treta, Dwarpara and Kali Yuga, which relate to the Golden, Silver, Bronze and Iron ages more commonly known in the west. We learn about how the consciousness of man and planet are affected by this cyclic movement towards and away from the universal centre, Brahma. Most importantly, Swami Yukteswar draws direct references from the Bible that correspond to ancient texts from Oriental writings. Surely this work will be of great interest to those seekers who look for the inter-connectedness of everything. Santhan Naidoo Khanyi Media (..)
