A very helpful guide:
I have found this book to be a very helpful guide to working the 12 steps. It gives exact information and formats to go about the difficult but important work of following the 12 steps. For those of us who want to do the work but are not sure how, this is the workbook to use.

12 Steps, but not specifically for Adult Children:
I have been in Recovery for amost two years now and I am definately an ACOA. I attend a fellowship regularly and work with a sponsor, and I am also in therapy. I have issues that stem from my childhood that include my own addictions. I have recently bought a 12 step guide for most of my major issues. I now have the AA Big Book, the 12 & 12, the NA Basic Text, the It Works How & Why, The Co-Dependents Guide to the 12 steps, The OA 12 step guide, Hope & Recovery 12 steps for Compulsive Sexual Behavior. For me, I cannot read just one text. I have alot of issues and I need to see these issues translated to my particular problem. That way, whatever problem I may have in any given day, I can "look it up" with this little 12 step reference library I have and then reflect on it. To me, this book is very generic, and it's not even the the best book out there. It should have just been named "a generic guide to the 12 steps." I have been searching for a 12 step guide specifically ACOA's but I don't think there has been one written. Today I am going to purchase "How Al-Anon Works" and see if it comes close to what I am looking for. My advice to you, find yourself a 12 step fellowship, go to meetings, get a sponsor, work the steps. I studied self-help books alone for many years and was never able to find relief. It wasn't until I reached out to others that I started to see a real change in me, in my life, and in how I feel about myself. Don't go it alone!!!

PLAGIRISM - already published as The 12 Steps: A Way Out:
This book is nothing more than the book published by the same group (Friends In Recovery)called The 12 Steps: A Way Out. They stuck a new cover on it with a different title. The words are identical. This is shameless! Since I already own the other book, if found it a COMPLETE WASTE of $$$. I returned the book to Amazon for a complete refund!

12 Steps to a Healthier Life!:
I am a 23 year old adult child of abuse and addiction of all types...recently I have looked to many different outlets for help...including addiction myself- when I realized that I was starting on the same path (Thank God I caught it early!) I picked this book up at the store. I started reading it a little while ago and since then have a whole new look on life...I am now getting the help I need and seeking some friends with the same issues that I have so we can lean on eachother if needed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is feeling lost and has had the same or maybe (God forbid!) worse experiences than I have had.

12 Steps for Adult Children of Alcoholics:
This is a wonderful tool for anyone dealing with the issues of being a child of an alcoholic. This book assists you in an enlightening journey and provides a roadmap for the trip. A MUST HAVE for any adult child.
