This is why i read fiction: i loved this book! It made the other books i was reading at the time (2 novels by renowned authors) seem unbearably flat in comparison. It was unendingly imaginative, which should always be the first ingredient in fiction. Most books are creative ways of telling familiar stories, but this was a delightful combination of original characters, a fresh narrative voice, an innovative story, and just enough of the familiar (i.e. fake Disneyland fauna) to give it plausibility and snap. If you liked John Irving's 'Owen Meany' you will love the positivity and honesty of Charlie and Henry Drop as they meander and forge through a heartbreaking but promising world.
I loved it!: Reading this book was kind of like eating a box of your favorite chocolates; you can't wait for the next surprising bite, yet you never want to come to that last tasty morsel.. Meeting Charlie and Henry Drop was a pleasure I shan't soon forget. In fact, I just may be in love with Charlie a tiny bit! He's so fresh, so original, and so very open and vulnerable, especially when he "leaks." I'm not one to write synopses of books, as I'd rather the reader discovers for him/herself the delight (and in some cases, the displeasure) of meeting all the characters (and there definitely ARE characters in this one) lying in wait. All I can say is, this book was a complete joy! Highly recommended!
A little of this, a little of that...: A dash of Holden Caufield, a sprinkle of Ignacious Riley, mix together, bake for one hundred or so pages, let cool and enjoy the warmth and humor of Charlie Drop. If I liked it, you will too. Or it's your ass.
Loved this book!!!!: I highly recommend "The Rise od Charlie Drop" to everyone! It was such a fun book to read. I am sad that I am finished. Order it today, you won't be sorry!
Fun read!: I was recommended this book, by my good friend and neighbor. I really enjoyed reading it, great characters, great adventure.
