difficult: Obviously this is a dessert cookbook, however, I found most of the reciepes to be too time consuming for my needs. During the holidays, few people want to spend an hour or two slaving away on Pavlovas or even hot cocoa. Though I haven't made any of these myself (because I just don't want to make the time) I'm sure that they taste really good. Too much work, not enough reward. I'm still giving it 3 stars for it's photography and it's ability to tie the food in with the Nutcracker ballet, which was the point of the book after all.
Showcases sixty-one recipes: Enhanced with 89 color photographs of mouth-watering desserts, The Nutcracker Sweet: Show-Stopping Deserts Inspired By The World's Favorite Ballet showcases sixty-one recipes, each of which are guaranteed holiday classics that range from the simple to the sophisticated. Linda Hymes is a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef and a former professional ballerina who has taken the theme of the 19th century fairytale based ballet to present delicious recipes enhanced against a backdrop of charming tales from her life performing the ballet which is so popular during the Christmas holiday season. From Chocolate Fondue; Blackberry Dewdrop Charlotte; Champagne Poached Pears with Cardamom and Honey Ice Cream and Rich Chocolate Sauce; and Little Cranberry Curd Cookies; to Sunflower Seed and Sesame Brittle; Gala Apple Galette; Black Forest Crepe Gateau; and Chocolate Symphony, The Nutcracker Sweet will enhance elegant holiday dining throughout the year, and in very season of celebration.
