Hip Hop Curriculum: This particular book was very informative, enlightening and fun for the children. I run an African Centered Day Camp for 9 weeks and I am looking forward to implementing this curriculum. I encourage teachers, camp directors or administrators to review this book and pull out the pertinent information. It is really educational andyou wouldnot actually know that until you read it in its entirty. Dr. Kunjufu developed a winner, it peeked my interest.
I can't believe this was published: I ordered this book as part of a research project I was doing on African American students in the current curriculum. It's no secret that minorities and low income students are not given voice in the texts and programs schools use, but this book was a ridiculous disappointment. This book solidifies many of the stereotypes of Black culture and is a disgrace to multicultural pedagogy.
Hip Hop Street Curriculum: Must get for parents of children that are infatuated with the hip hop culture. This book definitely explains the myths and realities of the hip hop culture.
