Fantastic!: As a young professional with a new business and a new wife, I found Getting Started to be extremely helpful at getting me to understand the basics of financial planning for someone younger. I especially love the fact that this book was written by someone MY AGE who does not lecture you, but rather presents information with personal stories and humor. This is a must read for anyone in Generations X and Y looking to get ahead!
A tremendous help for recent college graduates!: After graduating from school, I shuttered to think about the world that awaited me. No, not the world of work - I was actually looking forward to that. I was petrified of handling my own finances. Getting Started is a great resource for other people my age, looking to find their way through the mess of bills, loans, and payments. Unlike other finance books, this book is written to our (20 and 30 year olds) generation - without being corny or lame. The book is well written, it's easy and actually quite funny. I highly recommend it to any recent college graduates or anyone who is looking for a bit of easy-to-understand advice in handling their finances.
Surprised!: I am highly surprised at the reviews on the page. I feel as I have wasted money on this book. This book briefly tells you that you need to max out your 401k, have no credit card debt, you need to have enough insurance, make sure you have visited an attorney and filled out the appropriate papers for your end of life. Thats basically the run down. It doesn't explain or given any ideas. I was expecting so much more. I think Rich Dad Poor Dad, Suze Ormon, or Dave Ramsey's book would be good ideas. Not only would you get all this in great details but learn much much more.
Getting Started: The Financial Guide for a Younger Generation: What a way to start! This was for grandchildren and it did what I had hoped. Great orientation for the young!
Finances made simple for today: This book was good reading for everyone - especially for the older generation giving advice to the younger generation. This book tells us how things have changed.
