Ugh!: My kindergartener brought this book home from her school library. I think that it is one of the worst children's books I have ever seen. The writing is uninteresting and the storyline is banal and predictable. The author must be a wedding industry promoter, as the book does nothing more than to make young girls think that their wedding (complete with traditional princess dress, flowers, etc) will be the "best day of their lives." Books like these only reinforce to girls that their main role in life is that of a blushing bride; that their wedding will be the apex of their adult existance. I certainly hope that my girls will aspire to be more in life than this book expects of them.
Very Cute!: This is a sweet book, filled with colorful and sparkly illustrations. I'm planning to give this book as a gift to the flower girls in my wedding this summer. It's a perfect memento of a special time in a little girl's life!
My daughter enjoyed it: We checked this book out from the local library. My two year old daughter liked this "girly" book very much. She dances around the living room like the character Lettice does at the end of the book. (She has had the opportunity to read all kinds of other books - about motorcycles, etc. So, I don't worry about her being shoved into a feminine "box".)
