needed more than this book had to offer: I found this book of limited use because anyone dealing with prescribed medications in the mental health field is also usually dealing with someone taking other medications- for pain, sleep, GI distress, etc. So having a book on only mental health medications has not been that helpful to me. It is worth getting a more comprehensive book.
PDR Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals, 3rd ed. (Pdr Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals): I love this book. I use it all the time. I especially like the pics of the meds since many clients come in saying they took "the orange pill". It helps identify what meds they are taking. I often use it to educate my clients about the medication, the side-effects, what to look for, what to avoid, how to take it. It helps me support my clients more. I highly recommend it.
Great Book: I highly recommend this book for professionals who work in the mental health field or for those who work in Child Protection or a related field that might need a quick reference for medications that their clients might be on if you aren't already familar with it.
Excellent resource for chemical dependency counselors: This book provides current information regarding drugs clients may be taking, their side effects, alternatives, symptoms, etc. A must-have for any counselor's desk.
A Great Book: PDR Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals This is a smaller version of the Physician PDR specifically for Mental Health practicianers. It is up to date, easy to use and is the first source I use regarding medication. I order one every year...every year more psychotrophic medications become available.
