The Best of the Best: On one Monday a month in the offices of the Old Farmer's Almanac in Dublin, New Hampshire, the Almanac's receipe testers cook up the award winning receipes from the current year's county fairs. After the dish is prepared, the good people who work for America's longest running publication taste the fare and offer an opinion. Only the best recepies make it into the Almanac and only the best of the best have made it into this book. There are a lot of good receipes in this book, from appetizers and salads, soups and stews, meat and poultry to cakes and pies. All of these receipes are blue ribbon receipes from county fairs throughout America, so you really can't go wrong with any of them. I have made both the White Oyster Chile and Jim's Shrimp and Lobster Espanole recently and both were simply delicious. There are no fat or cholesterol counts here, the emphasis is on taste, and the taste is good. Review submitted by Captain Katie Osborne
