Magnesium relieved my anxiety, please read this review: I am very familiar with the pain of anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia for I suffered from these maladies for several decades. During those years of suffering I believed that my problems were purely mental and underwent treatment by psychiatrists, psychologists, and hypnotherapists. I took various prescribed medications and read many books such as this, but experienced little relief. And then something wonderful happened: I began taking a daily supplement of chelated magnesium (for a different ailment) and shortly thereafter experienced a significant diminishment of anxiety in addition to cure of the ailment for which I had originally taken the supplemental magnesium. There seemed to be no explanation for why taking supplemental magnesium caused this wonderful loss of anxiety until the publication in 2003 of the important book The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Carolyn Dean. Early in her book Dr. Dean reveals that a major cause of anxiety and panic attacks is deficiency of magnesium and that magnesium deficiency is quite common in the U.S. Therefore, I beg all sufferers of anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia -- whatever else you may do -- please purchase and read The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Carolyn Dean and please try the magnesium supplementation which she recommends. It may change your life as it has changed mine.
Grateful to find this book!: I am totally grateful to find this book and to have read it. I find myself constantly thinking about and applying what it taught me about dealing with anxiety in everyday situations and it really does help! I have read so much about anxiety that it really seems that there was no more left to learn, but this book taught me more, most importantly methods I could use to handle my anxiety without having to rely on medication. If you are interested in medication, this book also covers those aspects as well as herbal medicine, notedly Kava and St. Johns Wort. I was really at a loss when it came to dealing with anxiety and reading this book produced a feeling of well being. The coping techniques should be invaluable to anyone in need of help dealing with their anxiety.
Anxiety or not?: I do not recommend this book..Other than the part where you learn to peel the onion of your problems..which you will read in any other Anxiety book..I do not recommended this book at all! Terrible..the breathing exercises to stop anxiety does not work!! Its so silly, waste of money!! I give it a D- Seriously..of course this is my opinion, but i have anxiety,so i would like to help other ppl save their money and time on another book!!
a God send.: I found this book to be a God send. It's a very helpful, useful, insightful, book. It's helpful personally and in my practice as a school nurse. A book you read and then lend to others.
Good beginners book: This is a wonderful basic book on Anxiety disorders. It goes into depth discussing the different disorders and their symptoms, and is a very solution oriented book, giving exercises to do and ideas of some of the medications used to treat anxiety disorders. It also talks about cognitive behavioral therapy, and gives such exercises. This sets this book out from many of the others, as this approach to dealing with anxiety disorders and depression is becoming more popular. If you have already read some of the basic books on Anxiety I would recommend a wonderful book that has been more than a tremendous help to me, although the title doesn't sound like a book for anxiety, it is for both anxiety and depression, and uses only cognitive behavioral therapy. It is called "Ten days to self esteem" by David Burns, I would also recommend any books by David Burns that would help with anxiety and depression.
