Excellent Translation:
The Good News Translation of the Holy Bible is an excellent translation of the scriptures into the English language. It is accurate, dignified, and good reading. If you're looking for a Bible that you will read rather than one that will only be used occasionally for reference then this is a great choice. I bought a copy a while back and have read heaps of scripture since. It is a genuine pleasure. The binding is good quality, the print is excellent, and the line drawings are a great way to break up the text. There are also embedded maps through the text, and a number of helps at the front an back of the bible including a Sunday and a week day lectionary. I recommend this edition with no hesitations.

A BIBLE YOU WILL READ!:
I agree with the first reviewer: this is a bible you will read. Don't ever suspect the Good News Translation: it is elegance in simplicity. I use other translations, too, like the New American Bible for authoritative annotation, and the new English Standard Version for traditional literary beauty. But you'll find yourself reading this GNT page after page, without effort, and that is what it's all about. Also, at first I thought the line drawings were for children: now I realize that they are wonderful mnemonics that trigger your memory with visual capsule summaries. More or less a traditional size bible, with large clear type, and a flexible leather cover that feels just right. Go for it!
