Amazon.com Review: In The Protector, a fast-paced thriller about firefighters and faith from award-winning novelist Dee Henderson, firefighter Jack O'Malley is hot on the trail of a serial arsonist. The criminal paints murals of flames on the walls of the buildings he burns, and leaves popcorn scattered at the scene of his blazes. Sidelined firefighter Cassie Ellis, who is haunted by disabilities from her entrapment in a past fire, is the only eyewitness. She's attracted to Jack, but deeper questions about his lack of Christian faith may put a damper on their relationship. When Cassie and Jack hunt for the perpetrator together, it's a sure-fire recipe for suspense and romance. Although this is the fourth installment in the O'Malley series, The Protector reads well as a standalone title. The nonstop drama will keep readers on the edge of their seats . --Cindy Crosby
A little bit deja vu, but an intriquing read: Having just finished all 6 books in the O'Malley series, they all carry the same theme with an unbelieving O'Malley being attracted to a believing partner. Book #4 is no exception. It's a little bit "been here, done that" with Jack as he meets Cassie. However, Dee Henderson kept my interest in the story line and she definitely did her homework in detailing the life of a fireman. She uses nuances in her writing to make the characters real and keep you attached to them. If you don't mind reading a bit of "same song, different verse", I'd recommend "The Protector" and each of the books in the O'Malley series.
Riveting: I am entranced by the O'Malley series of books. Each is unique in it's characters and story line. These are what I classify as a Christan novels, but not overboard in content. The family dynamics and action in the story pulls it all together. Dee Henderson is a fantastic writer. You read one book and you are hooked for the whole series of the O'Malley clan.
Love this series!!: The books in this series are awsome. Dee Henderson has become one of my favorites. She has a way of making the reader a part of the story and looking forward to the next! Suspense, romance, friendship, it's all there and more.
Good Christian Suspense: Book 4 in the O'Malley Series follows Jack, the Chicago Firefighter. He is in pursuit of a serial arsonist. Jack's friend and former firefighter, Cassie, has rejoined the department to help catch the bad guy and keep Jack safe. This novel also showcases Jack's boss, Cole, who has a thing for Jack's sister, Rachel. Each O'Malley novel reveals an obstacle to faith in Christ that is eventually overcome. Jack's struggle is with general acceptance of the accuracy of Christ's sacrifice and that He could possibly be alive. The family continues to struggle with Jennifer's cancer, as well. There is a great deal of suspense surrounding the identification and capture of the serial arsonist. The romantic undertones concentrate on the development of relationships between Jack and Cassie and Cole and Rachel without the couples finding themselves in many romantic situations. The O'Malley Series Contains: The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, The Rescuer. Each story is faithful to the concept of believers in Christ being united with other believers. In each book, the inner struggle of the Christian is told as they long for the one they love to come to the Lord.
A great book: My sister loved this book. I think she will read the rest of the series now. I think she really liked it because she is a firefighter herself.
