Eh, why such good reviews?: Another series created out of the idea that a run of the mill dude discovers an alternate world, where he all a sudden becomes courageous and forgets his past. Besides that, the build up of a great magical climax is greatly over hyped, as it falls flat. Dont buy this novel if you are looking for your next great fantasy read
good: Good book. well written and keeps your attention all the way through. excellent discriptive writing.
This is an amazing book: This book is amazing. Not only does it have a fascinating plot, it also goes into some detail of the Celtic life style, and digs deep into the mythology of the Celtic religion and persona. It starts off a little dull, but toward the middle, the book picks up its pace, and delivers to you an experience that you wouldn't want to miss. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Celtic things or a fast pace fantasy/adventure novel. Lawhead is an amazing author. His imagery and word choice is spot on, and his plot is very interesting. That's what makes this book such a great one, one that can hold a candle up to even the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
Great Fantasy: This book was one my parents bought for me, it took me a while to get into it, but I was determined to read it. Halfway through the book I got to where I didn't want to put it down at all, I just sat and finished the entire book in one day, a great book that I would read again.
A good beginning: This was a good and exciting read. I was first exposed to Stephen Lawhead when I read Hood. The Paradise War was reminiscent of Hood and Scarlet of the King Raven trilogy. Lawhead's knowledge of Celtic lore and his story telling is intriguing. I highly recommend this to all readers of fantasy and mythology.
