Good basic guide for newbies: I just finished reading the second eBay book in the pocket guide series and I must confess that I did not enjoy it as much as the first (How to Sell Clothing). I think perhaps the writer got off on the wrong foot when she admitted in the beginning pages that she knew nothing about selling collectibles (or anything else) on eBay before writing it. Although I understood the point she was trying to make, this does not inspire much confidence in readers who want to learn the ins and outs of the business. Some things are better left unsaid. And other things need to be expanded on. For example, the book covered most of the basics on starting and operating an eBay business in an easy-to-understand format, which is a plus. But if you are looking to find new information on how and where to find collectibles, or inspirational ideas for different niches in the collectibles category, the book does not have much to offer in those areas. However, I did enjoy the spotlight sidebars which offered interesting trivia about renowned collectibles and memorabilia. Bottom line: This book could be a good resource for someone new to eBay who wants to sell collectibles; but experienced sellers will probably want to pass.
