Sparrow: Phil Hale Volume 2 (Art Book Series) (ISBN 1600101151)

Not Worth It.:
This book is not worth the money. I was very disappointed when I seen how few reproductions of paintings there were and also how small if any. Your best bet is to buy GOAD if you really want to get a sense of Phil Hale's work. This book just doesn't add up to much, the book is too small and the quality is mediocre, don't waste your time.

A perfect, pocket-sized dose of the genius of Phil Hale:
Yes, this is a small-but-perfectly-formed book, and no, it's not quite as lavish or deluxe as the aforementioned GOAD, but if you're a fan of Phil Hale's murky, creepy and retina-scarring work, this is a unique little volume to add to your library. I don't really get the complaints about the trim-size and format of the book - the dimensions are right there in the description, so the size of this book shouldn't come as a shock to anyone that orders it, really. These books aren't meant to be career-spanning overviews; rather, they're precious, portable little collections of one artist's work per volume. The Sparrow series has had a great set of artists in it so far (Ashley Wood, Kent Williams, Shane Glines), and the two Hale editions they've published in this format are definitely winners.
