Travelers best friend to Montreal and Quebec: Gives needed insight along with great photographs from both Montreal and Quebec City. Extremely helpful for planning your stay with information from history of region, places to visit, helpful maps of area, attractions, where to stay or eat, plus much more. Even helpful in all aspects of planning your trip from telling you what tobring and wear, entry regulations, money matters, public holidays, ect.
Only good for before trip study, not good for actual trip: Okay, I bought this book with another one from DK (for Canada) to go to Quebec, Montreal, Toronto and Niagara Falls. I was attracted to the detailed description of the history, different districts in Montreal etc. As it turns out, don't expect this book will help during the trip. It is only good for the background materials, the real hardcore touring part...it's a disaster for us. We first arrived in Montreal, and found we had a hard time locating the actual tour site descriptions in the book. This book do it in a very "romantic" way, we had to read an entire paragraph to see the site we want pop up somewhere, and that's about all we can find. There's very little information about the actual site's hours, location etc. And it does not offer a detailed map for the main tourist site: Old Montreal. In the end, we had to use DK for the entire trip. It's a pity that this is not a practical book. If somebody wants to know more about these cities, this will be a great book. However, for actual visit, I'd suggest just leave it at home.
