The lens coating filters the blue colors so common in underwater environments and enhances the lush red and yellow colors of various aquatic creatures. The filter also reduces backscatter, a phenomenon in which the flash reflects off small particles in the water, creating white dots in the picture. Dont' buy a reefmaster without it!:
This lens is essential to getting good underwater pictures with either of the new Digital cameras that Reefmaster offers. I took mine to the Cayman Islands and after only a few shots, decided to leave the lens on for almost all my underwater shots! The improvement was immediately "clear". Get one!
