Amazon.com Review: Fiestaware was introduced in 1936, discontinued in 1973, and resuscitated in 1986 for a public already consumed with collecting original Fiestaware. Today's Fiestaware merges old and new: the same molds are used to create the famous streamlined art deco design, but new colors and a lead-free glaze are contemporary enhancements. Build a Fiestaware collection by buying dinnerware and accessories all in one color, or buy pieces in assorted colors for a playful, eclectic set. These wide, flat bowls are great for soups, stews, pastas, or even sauce-covered casseroles or meats. The extended flat rim decreases the risk of spilling, and the shallow depth makes for a pretty presentation, especially when serving delicate soups with a dollop of crème fraîche or a sprig of fresh herbs. --Emily Wolf
product is fine - but beware of using Macy's Bridal Registry: A little known fact - Macy's Bridal Registry does not honor the sales at Macy's. So, I would recommend printing out the list of items your friends register for and then search for the items on the internet (for cheaper prices and apparently, better quality on fiesta ware). All you need to do is send an email or call Macys Bridal Registry and they will update the list to show your gift. Unfortunately, I found this out after the fact, but I am hoping to save some of you a lot of money.
Soup, salad, chili, stew, pasta...: We love Fiesta ware, and purchased rimmed soup bowls thinking, "Ooh, a sort-of formal piece of china to add to our Fiesta collection!" It definitely works for soup but it's also our first choice for pasta, chili and big salads--stuff that might need a little more corraling than a plate can provide (like a big mounded salad) but not necessarily something liquidy like soup. It holds more than the bowls that come as part of the 4- or 5-piece sets Fiesta ware comes in, too. Funny, how something as simple as a soup plate can spoil you!

Love These Bowls: These bowls are so perfect for soup and with the rim a place to put bread or crackers, salad, etc. We use these very often. I have them in the Scarlet Red and they are just gorgeous. I use the Scarlet Red and Black Fiestaware and these colors are so stunning together!
