use with caution:
Unlike muscles in your arms or legs, they are able to grow outward but your muscles used for breathing are mostly internal to your ribs. THese muscles dont grow outward, they grow inward, potentially decreasing your lung volumes and that falls under the "work smarter not harder" principle...why make your lungs work harder having to move air more quickly when you could increase your volumes, requiring less breathing therefore less effort. Minute volume is your breathes per minute times the amount of air you move in and out of your lungs (rate x volume), if you decrease the volume of each breath you have to increase your rate to be able to cyle the same amount of air per minute. Athletes breath harder because the lungs breath out carbon dioxide which is a byproduct of strenous activity (the short explanation). The harder your workout, the more CO2 you produce, requiring a higher minute volume to blow the CO2 out. As you breathe oxygen is taken from the air and goes into your bloodstream and carbon dioxide is released from your bloodstream, into the air in your lungs, and then is exhaled. Obstructive or restrictive lung disease is not about the strength to move air in and out, its about physical deformities of the airways causing increased airway resistance...this technology reminds me of the old "blow bottles" that inhalation therapy used to use back in the 70's (inhalation therapy currently known as respiratory therapy) and that technology was discontinued because it showed to actually cause lung damage instead of a benefit. Blowing too hard against a resistance can cause all sorts of damamge to the lung tissue (called baurotrauma). Instead learn how to have better breathing techniques like pursed lip breathing which causes a small amount of back pressure (PEEP) naturally and you are born with lips so nothing needs to be purchased....plus the levels are safer than when incorrectly using an artifical device. A normal person would have no need for such a device.

Because some people are morons:
I'm giving this product five stars. Just like the one who gave it a 1 star rating, I don't own it, but I think my opinion of myself is so high that my experiences with internal medicine and autolaryngology make me a qualified reviewer of this product. Yes...this is called "Sarcasm." People...if you don't own a product, have never worked with the product, or even have had a friend of your sisters-in-law's cousin's brother who passed the product in a Wal-Mart, YOU SHOULD NOT POST A REVIEW. It's a "review" section of the products' page...not "your opinion of what you think the product will be like" section.

Ultrabreathe is a breath of fresh air.:
My wife is a weak breather when she sleeps, and she also has obstructive sleep apnea. When she would drop off to sleep (and she would many, many times at night) her air pathway would close and her breathing was too weak to pass the obstruction. Because of this situation, for a number of years she has been using a by-pap machine to keep her air way open. Now enters this wonderful product into the picture! When I saw it for the first time, a light bulb went off in my head. She now uses the ultrabreathe every day and sleeps through the night without the by-pap. We are saying good bye to expensive high-tech sleep studies and breathing equipment. Ultrabreathe may not cause everyone to achieve the result my wife has had, but it is well worth the effort and small expense to find out!

Great warmup tool for workouts and for singers!:
I have been using the Ultrabreathe for around a month.I use it for warmups before workouts, and I also use it as part of my warmups for vocals. It is good product, and the best of all it is so convenient that you can take it anywheres, plus you can't beat the price.I highly recommended this product if you workout daily and if you sing for living or for fun, pretty good tool for warmups, right before your actives. Also great if you have respiratory health problems.

Convenient and easy to use:
I got my Ultrabreathe a few weeks ago and started using it as part of training for the NY marathon. I found it easy to use. I could feel that my breathing muscles were working harder. After a few times, I learned to breath out slower so I wouldn't build up too much oxygen from the deep inhaling. My only complaint is that saliva drips out of the device. Not a big problem, but I wish it had some kind of containment system.
