Villeroy & Boch's Cottage collection brings a bit of country style to a kitchen or dining room in either a rural or suburban setting, evoking memories of berry picking, baking pies, and simpler times. The homey pattern on this platter features a muted white background with bunches of blueberries, blackberries, cherries, currants, and leaves along the perimeter, plus a few crawling ladybugs on the leaves. A primitively painted blue stripe lines the scalloped edge of the plate for a more authentic vintage look. This 11-3/4-inch oval platter is perfectly shaped to serve smaller portions of asparagus, a pair of baked tomatoes, or a bunch of stuffed mushroom appetizers. Made of fine china, the platter has a slightly translucent appearance but offers the weight and strength of earthenware.
