Wow!!: Great product, makes my job easier and more professional. Wow!, the bit is sharp. Be careful touching it, you might just cut yourself. Have been using it for a week now and i am very pleased. I strongly recommend!!
I use the mini more than the full-size jig: The mini will cover 80-90% of your casual-use pocket hole needs. Mine came as part of one of Kreg's master kits, and the Mini gets the most use by far. Small and easy to grab, with no setup other than to clamp it in place. It yields exactly the same result as any of the other Kreg jigs, right up to their hydraulic system. It's just slower. In addition to purely being handy, it does a couple of things the larger jigs can't do or is inconvenient, including taking the jig to the work, and drilling pocket holes on large items like full sheets. Good jig. Excellent drill.
Easy to use: I did some basic woodworking and used this jig to make the joints ... it was easy to use and it took very little time to finish the project.
Quick and simple: I bought this kit because I wanted a spare drill bit in my kit. You can adjust the collar for differnt thickness materials and instead of having one bit whose collar I need to move back and forth I can have one bit always set up for 3/4 inch material. But I have used this type of jig before as well and it is great. If you are the Harry The Happy Home Hobbiest type or a seasoned wood worker this is a nice thing to have within reach in your tool box. It works as well on the edge as it does the flat of your stock. After you have found the best setting for the collar on the drill bit for your project and location for the jig just clamp it down on your piece and drill; thats all there is to it. One word of advice: to keep the drill bits edges from getting beaten up too soon; place the bit into the hole before you turn on your drill and leave it in till the drill stops. A little respect for your tools goes a long way; I have used one of these for years and the bit is still nice and sharp. Now go out and make some sawdust.
Best thing since sliced bread: I should have bought one of these things years ago - all the time I would have saved cutting lap or mortise joints or messing around with biscuits or dowels, etc. This thing is so fast and versatile - plus it saves a little wood because everything is just a butt joint. I was fixing up some cabinets yesterday and I was not even using a clamp - just held in place with my fingers and slowly drilled in. Results were wonderful - strong, tight and seems as strong as any of the other joints. Don't hesitate - just get one. Or maybe a couple, just to have a spare.
