Amazon.com Product Description:
Thanks to its super-high-flux Luxeon LED bulb, Streamlight's Scorpion is one of the brightest flashlights out there for its size and weight: It's rated at a blinding 47 lumens, yet it only weighs 5.3 ounces with batteries. The body is made of durable machined aluminum and features a rubber-armored sleeve for a sure, comfortable grip. O-rings keep the moisture out, and a polycarbonate lens (with scratch resistant coating) protects the LED. A convenient tail-cap switch lets you turn the light on and off without having to switch from an over- to underhanded grip. The Scorpion runs on two three-volt lithium batteries (included), which will give you up to 1.75 hours of run time, with another couple of hours at reduced illumination. If you think it will be a while before you work through those four hours, you'll be relieved to know that the batteries have a 10-year shelf life-in other words, this flashlight will be ready when you need it.--Josh Dettweiler What's in the Box Flashlight, Luxeon LED bulb, two three-volt lithium batteries

Great LED if you need alot of light in a small space:
I am somewhat of a 'flashlight junkie', so I've used almost every type there is. This is the brightest LED light I've ever seen. I also really like the push-button on/off switch on the end. I am not a fan of flashlights you must twist to turn on/off. The only disadvantage is, it's hard to slip this light into your pocked due to the rubber grip.

Super Bright, Reliable and Compact:
I have evaluated lots of different flashlights including Maglite, Surefire, LEDs, etc. Flashlight technology has advanced from bright Krypton bulbs to brighter Halogen bulbs to super bright Xenon bulbs. The LEDs (light emitting diodes) are energy saving but produce a bluish white cast rather than an incandescent white. The Scorpion flashlight is the best buy among the bunch. It is reasonably priced. The replacement Xenon bulb is not expensive whereas the Surefire replacement bulb is an expensive entire reflector unit. The Scorpion comes with a spare Xenon bulb located underneath its reflector head. These tactical flashights use two 3 volt Lithium batteries. The batteries (type 123) are somewhat costly and last only about an hour continuously on. The good thing about Lithium batteries is that they have a long shelf life. The old Maglites were large and heavy enough to bludgeon an assailant with. The newer tactical flashlights such as the Scorpions are small, lightweight, dependable, super bright and pocket size. Shop around for the best price. It can be purchased for as low as about $30 Streamlight Scorpion 2-Lithium Xenon Flashlight, Black #85001 For those of you who need spare bulbs: Streamlight Scorpion Bulb 1Pk - Flashlights and Batteries - Mfr#85914 Or a convenient Scorpion flashlight belt holster : Nylon Belt Holster, Scorpion, Strion

Let there be light !:
absolutely illuminating, compact, fits in the smallest glove box, on on a utility belt. great buy. i highly recommend this model is you want a great compact flashlight.

42 lumens is WEAK:
Maybe a few years ago this was a good idea. 42 lumens is the LED manufacturer's spec for a 1-watt LED. This flashlight probably doesn't even put out 42 lumens, they are just pasting in the LED specification (which doesn't account for light loss due to reflectors, etc.). In reality, this is probably about 30 lumens. If you really need a good flashlight for "professional" use, pay more for a Surefire G2. It's twice as bright, and they publish accurate light output numbers based on end-product testing. If you just want a flashlight for occasional use and don't need anything brighter, there are currently a lot of other 1-watt flashlights which run off of 1 or 2 AA batteries. Lithium batteries are great when power consumption needs them, but this isn't the kind of light that needs it.
