Good product, arrived with minor damage:
First of all, this is a good grill. I am writing this having just hosted our annual holiday party, and I spent most of the evening hovering over my new grill, and it worked great. This is a very big improvement over the Weber which I used previously. I bought this grill primarily to get more grilling capacity and it has that for sure. I much prefer the cast iron grate to the Weber's stainless steel, as the grill marks are much nicer, and once seasoned, a better non-stick surface. However, though it shipped promptly, this grill arrived when I was not home and I may have refused shipment if I had been here. The box looked like it fell off the back of a truck and someone tried to repair it with a couple rolls of packing tape. Once the box was open, there were numerous small dings and dents, particularly on the corners, and I had to bang those back into shape with a hammer. All the parts were there, fortunately, and I was able to assemble it without too much trouble. It looked like it would work ok once I got it together, but this unit should have never been sold as a new item, when in fact it was a factory "second". Since I had our holiday party coming up in a few days after the grill arrived, I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying do do a return, so I went ahead and seasoned the grill. After the initial irritation wore off, as I described above, I am happy with the grill. I recommend the grill but I warn you against getting it delivered via fedex ground. I should also mention that, after ordering many many items from amazon, big and small, over the years, this is my first bad experience with the shipping.

Very good JUMBO charcoal griller:
I bought this grill for my mom & step-dad. They use it all the time. I initially thought it was too big for a couple of empty-nesters. Now that they've hosted several large family gatherings, they can really appreciate the great amount of cooking space! They said it saves them a lot of time-because they can load almost all the food in at once, instead of in shifts. My main concern with this grill was the length of the screws holding this monstrosity together. They're cut off just past the bolts, insuring that you'll need to check the grill now & then (for stability). I really recommend that you ask someone to help with the assembly. I chose my younger & much smarter sister (because I'm the bubble-head in the family). We didn't break a sweat, but it took us a little while to get the thing together. It was a bit bulky & difficult for two women to handle while trying to assemble. We don't regret it, though. Our entire family is benefiting from this purchase! H A P P Y G R I L L I N G !!!

I'm very happy!:
I would say pretty much what you read in the other reviews here is accurate. I ordered the Outlaw recently through Amazon, it arrived quickly and I've been happily grilling since. The grill did arrive in a heavy box that I'm sure left many shippers along the way cursing. It was waiting on my doorstep, but the box had completely burst open do to the weight and difficulty handling. Happily, everything seemed to be intact, although the warming rack was, as found in other reviews, badly bent out of shape. So it's a little disappointing to have a brand new grill with an ugly bent-up warming rack. As is mentioned in other reviews, the assembly instructions are less than desirable. I would suggest reading them through once or twice while opening and laying out all the parts and checking them over as you read. I would also suggest comparing the instructions you get with your grill with the manual available online on their website. I would go even further and say maybe look over the manuals of their other models. All this because some details of the instructions I received did not match my model and you can probably avoid some confusion if you read first and look over your parts. That being said, assembly was fairly easy and I was able to put it together myself in less than two hours. (And, yes, help would be handy and make things quicker.) Just be aware things may not match what is shown in the instructions. But, you could probably put the grill together with no instructions if you went about it slowly and carefully. I didn't tighten the bolts until told to do so as instructed, except that I chose to tighten them around where the bottom shelf attaches to the legs before I attached the body of the grill because I figured I wouldn't want to turn over the whole thing again once I got to the point of tightening bolts. This didn't seem to be a problem. I seasoned the grill as directed and it has been working great. Although the grill might seem large when grilling for two people like I mostly do, I find the generous space is great for moving things to a cooler spot and indirect cooking. Of course, I now have plenty of room for those big party cooking jobs! The little racks that you use to raise or lower the charcoal height could be improved upon, but work well enough. The grill itself heats up very well, holds the heat, and is easy enough to add charcoal to. I'm very happy with the how the cooking grates perform and they clean up easily. I'm not real crazy about emptying the ashes. The grate the coals sit on is welded to the ash catcher and the whole thing must be lifted out to dump the ashes. With models as large as the Outlaw, that is a rather bulky and awkward job. But, ash clean up is always a downside of charcoal grilling. Overall, I'm very, very happy and if the grill holds up over time I'm sure I will continue to be so for a long time!

Great grill at great price!:
To start off, I'm an avid charcoal griller for past ten years and though gas offers convenience, I'm still of the opinion that charcoal provides me with best results and at fraction of cost for propane gas. I have a Castinox Barbecook grill, went through several of Webers of different sizes, but Outlaw is a fantastic grill for fraction of the price. Outlaw provides twice the cooking surface area of 22-1/2" Weber and the heights are adjustable to insane hot to typical Weber hot. Love the hinged cover and the ability to control heat. Product is made in USA and very well constructed, definately will last for a long while. It took me a bit less than an hour to assemble and though instructions were not great but adequate to assemble without disassembly and I did it all by myself (though it would be helpful to have someone lending a hand with putting on the lid). Warming rack was bent out of shape which I couldn't fully straighten, which I've already contacted Char-Griller for replacement. I really like the temperature gauge, heavy duty cooking grate, tons of cooking area for both direct and indirect grilling (at least two very large turkeys or three smaller), warming rack for warming buns and keeping cooked food hot, easy grid removal for adding more charcoal by using a hefty removal tool which was provided. Nice feature is that I can get Weber Chimney starter on the charcoal rack and close the cover with the warming rack in place. It's great for getting the charcoal going on windy days. Contrary to posted photograph, the bottom rack is solid metal and wood surface on the front is the full length of the grill. Also, they provided hooks for hanging grilling accessories which is a definate plus. They also provided a hook for hanging a soda can for collecting grease drippings which would be helpful for smoking. All in all, I really can't find any faults with the grill and appear that it was engineered throughly. Construction is solid and total weight is is over 100 lbs. I can see that wheel may be a bit weak, but it'll be easy enough to replace if it breaks and readily available at any hardware store. I haven't had any problems yet as I wheel it to my back and forth from yard to garage which is about 50 yards from my garage. I haven't been so excited about grilling until I've purchased this grill. Fantastic value, though I've seen other similar grills on the market, Char-Griller is clearly a winner. Happy grilling and smoking!!! One more item to add is that I plan to disassemble to transport to outdoor picnics, though not as portable as a Weber, it should work out fine.

CHAR-GRILLER 2137 OUTLAW CHARCOAL GRILL:
Char-Griller 2137 Outlaw 1038 Square Inch Charcoal Grill / Smoker Char-Griller 2424 Side Fire Box, Fits 2121, 2123, 2137 Nice Grill. Very sturdy and heavy duty with a lot of cooking area. I used it twice, once grilling steak over flame and once using the side smoker for ribs and had excellent results each time. Assembly was not too difficult. I did not need a second person as it said in the instructions. The grill was poorly boxed for shipping and the grill was starting to burst out on arrival. The FedX deliverer even commented on it. One shelf board was split in half lengthwise, but I was able to glue it back together. There was no other damage. I am very pleased with this grill.
