Disappointed:
As a graphite artist and a frequent user of Derwent products, I was very excited to see that colored graphite was finally available. However, this time I was severely disappointed in this particular product. The Graphitint pencils are not coloured GRAPHITE as suggested as they lack the same behaviors and characteristics regular graphite does (i.e. smooth texture, blending and smudging capabilities, variable saturation control, and precise removal of the product from paper). The Graphitint pencils are nothing more than watercolor pencils or glorified colored pencils, producing a similar crayon-like texture as ordinary colored pencils. These pencils are hardly versatile and the name is greatly misleading. I only hope I can find some use for them someday.
Bad Amazon Description - Excellent Product:
The Amazon description is misleading or just down right incorrect. These are not graphite pencils, they are muted tinted colored pencils for the most part, and are water soluble. If you do not use as a water color pencil the colors remain more pencil like and just hints of colors, suggesting colors in certain areas. If water is used they really pop with color, not nearly as dull colored as when dry. These are amazing!!!
