We love our new kettle. it is stylish and has a great grip. The water heats up very fast and thus is energy efficient. Great product

lightweight:
This kettle is attractive but it is very lightweight and doesn't provide the right balance when you pour. The cover on the spout is operated by a grip under the handle. It is uncomfortable to use and too easy to scald your hand. The whistle works well. If I had examined this kettle in a shop I would have chosen one with a weighted bottom instead.

best tea kettle we have owned:
This is the best tea kettle we have owned. I almost didn't buy it based on user comments saying it was difficult to fill with water. This may be true if you have a very large spray head on your faucet. However for us - take lid off teapot, place faucet near opening, and fill with water. The automatic spout opener is fabulous - good engineering. We have used it daily for 5 months. No problem with the whistle. I would not hesitate giving this as a gift.

Unsuitable for daily use:
We have owned this kettle for just over a year. It's the second OXO kettle we've owned, with the prior one lasting just one year. The rubber wrapping on the handle is falling off and the spout cover has partially melted. The kettle has been in daily use, but despite this we would have expected more than a year's usage.

OXO's Horrible Failure:
Even on my small stove, the handle is too hot to touch and I have to wrap my hand in a dish towel. When making the 18 inch move from the burner to my cup, the weight of a half kettle worth of water will cause the spout/handle contraption to violently wobble open and shut, often splashing boiling water on all sorts of unsuspecting surfaces - my hands, the cat at my feet (MRAOW!), my husband. OXO failed completely by adding a "clever" lever to one of the more dangerous kitchen devices, as if they forgot tea kettles house scalding water. If you feel comfortable jerking the handle up and down to open the spout while holding nearly 4 pounds of flesh-melting water, then by all means, pick up the Pick Me Up.
