wayyyy overrated:
this was (...) bucks at target. It didn't fire as far as any of my nerf guns with or without the extension. The extensions attatchable grip wouldn't go on to the pistol and it wouldn't fire. If you were standing 5 feet from the wall and fired looking through the scope the dart woul've already lost 5 feet altitude. Don't buy this IT DOESNT WORK. Notice how in the commercial they show an animation of it not it actually firing and the distance isn't showed.

Pricing:
I thought I had purchased 2 of the Nerf Strike Longshot CS-6 guns for my nephews for Christmas. It turns out only one was ordered. Ok, BUT I paid $25.99 and free shipping on December 1. Now they are asking DOUBLE the original price. That is Robbery!! To add to that, the shipping is about $10.00. I am really very disappointed in what Amazon has become. I used to do all my shopping through them. This will not happen next year. Be very, very careful when you order. You will end up paying way too much for your purchase.

Not Quite a Sniper Rifle, But a Good Rifle Nonetheless!:
I've had my Nerf Maverick for a while now. It's fun for terrorizing my floormates (I'm a college student living in a dorm hall), but one needs variety sometimes! Enter the Longshot. Here's a brief outline of the parts, their pros, and their cons. The Scope: Let's get this out of the way first - the scope is an utterly useless hunk of plastic. Gravity always wins with dart guns; the darts will eventually start to fall. Having the scope on TOP of the gun, therefore, does NOTHING for accuracy and can actually get in your way. However, it does attach easily to the gun and adds somewhat to the visual intimidation factor. I like to attach it to my Maverick for giggles sometimes. The Front Attachment: Adding over a foot to the gun's length, the front attachment is perfect for intimidating your targets even more. However, it can actually TAKE from accuracy or distance. As the dart flies through the extra foot of tubing, it sometimes catches on an edge and flies out to the left or right, usually falling at a faster rate than normal. The added gun also has its ups and downs. It only holds one dart, and that dart must be loaded tightly to fire well. There's a small inset on top of the front attachment for holding another dart, but it often falls out. However, the front attachment can be easily removed and re-attached, allowing you to surprise your targets by suddenly producing two guns from your one. There was on particular assembly problem that I had. The trigger mechanism comes separate from the front attachment. You are supposed to "snap" it into place, but what you might think is the "snap" isn't. You have to force the handle even further back (and I'm not exaggerating when I say force; I thought I was going to break it). But once the handle is in, it stays in. The Gun Itself: The saving grace of the Longshot is its most basic part. The two, quick loading clips can easily fit 7 darts each (as opposed to the 6 advertised on the box). The bolt action works wonderfully, its mechanical clicks evoking the air of a real rifle. The gun DOES jam every now and again, but the folks at Hasbro included a jam shutter that you can open and reach into to fix things yourself. I have yet to find a real use for the bipod, but it doesn't get in the way when it's up. The adjustable shoulder stock has a disappointing two settings, but it does what it is meant to do. With all the attachments, the gun is certainly intimidating. What it gains in intimidation, though, it loses in use. It can be a bit front heavy (especially for kids), and it loses both accuracy and distance. The scope is just for show. Without the attachments, the gun has great accuracy and aim, rarely jams, and generally just works well. I'm happy with it.

Nerf Longshot:
The Longshot is broken already, it will not fire, it was not working by 12/28. The removable pistol section wouldn't fire from the get-go. My son is not particularly tough on toys, and didn't do anything extreme with this one--I'm very disappointed.

A wonderful gift!:
This Christmas me and my two younger brothers were presented with quite a treat! each of us received a CS-6 Longshot. The first thing you realize when you get this gun is it is not your old "open up and start shooting" nerf gun, this gun requires some assembly, nothing that really requires a manual but assembly none the less. Even shooting darts requires that you first open the clip, put in a 6 dart magazine and then close the loading chamber, which I find utterly amazing. the little features in this gun astound me, when you pull back on the loading/spring mechanism you're able to look into the loading chamber just like a real gun. This serves a practical purpose however as you'll need to get to this area when it jams... which it will if you're foolish enough to try to use a different type of ammo then what Nerf recommends. the gun is actually two separate nerf guns in one, there is the large gun itself which can grow several inches if you want by moving the shoulder butt back using an orange switch and a smaller pump action gun on the front which needs to be manually loaded with a new dart each shot. when the two guns are attached together this rifle is gratifyingly long. and when you don't want something that is as long as some reasonably sized dogs you can always separate the guns and shorten the stock of the gun for a much more manageable toy. It also is really neat having a full second clip of ammunition in the stock of the gun and the Bi-pod is really fun to use, it also makes the gun look very sniper-like out of the 3 guns we received ALL work amazingly well, we can shoot the guns well over 30 feet and the entertainment value has been great, there's nothing like randomly launching a barrage of nerf bullets at one of your siblings *memories* there has been one troubling side effect of how powerful these guns are, I've been noticing that the gun is actually starting to tear up small pieces of the nerf dart with continued use, hopefully this will only continue to a point but regardless I'd recommend picking up one of the nerf value dart packs from Hasbro. this is the most powerful nerf gun I've ever owned or seen, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good solid nerf toy. -Demonpack
