Very pretty:
I got these as a bridal shower gift. They are very nice looking. The price is decent since they are supposed to be quite durable. I got these as my 'nicer' dishes. In person they look expensive. Many people are complaining that the black is not black enough, but I think it would have looked too 'modern' if it was a bold black color. This way, it looks more 'antiquish'. Its not light, its a subtle black/grey color. I only wish the soup bowl had the design on it as well. The cup is sorta smallish but like I said, its not for everyday so I dont mind at all. I also recieved a matching serving platter which is just lovely and I cant wait to use it. All in all, I am very satisfied and hope to have these dishes a very long time.
The Perfect Dishes:
I got these as a wedding gift a little over a year ago, and have never once regretted my purchase. The design is even lovelier in person -- I really like the faint crackle pattern that borders the plates. The finish is sturdy and easy to clean; the plates of course hold to their no-chip warranty. I have also noticed that the very lightness of these dishes makes them easier to handle (even when pulling four or five at a time from the dishwasher), so there's less chance of dropping them. They're simple (and sturdy) enough for everyday use, but pretty (and light) enough for special occasions, too. With a set of silver chargers underneath, these dishes look every bit as nice as fine china.
Pretty pattern, though much more grey than black (like picture):
I ordered two new sets of Corelle for our everyday use because I always liked my old set (lasted 25 years, breaking and chipping only after MUCH wear and tear). I like that it's lightweight, durable, and the plates are easy to slide on and off each other when stacking. I get lots of compliments on the pattern as well - very unique. My only complaints are minor ... First, that the pattern does indeed look much darker and blacker in online photos. The pattern is grey and more dotted than "crackled" looking. But for everyday use it's fine. Second, for me, cutting food on these plates sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. My older Corelle plates (even with their all-over pattern) did not have the same issue. Even with these two issues, I would purchase them again.
