Bad design.:
We bought this unit several months ago, knowing that the CD door would break easily. Instead of breaking, it just stopped working. We're now on our 4th unit. On 2 the the CD door stopped working. One wouldn't even spin up a CD. It sounds good, looks sleek and has a nice alarm system, but it's a poor design and JVC has been anything but helpful. Not recommended.

Great system!:
I paid a half a hundy for this one shipped, and after about two weeks it has been awesome. The line-in and MP3 capabilities are what I mostly use but the daily alarm where I pick the track (or station), the volume level, and the start and end play time is really great - best I've had. The design is pretty interesting - it's small but dense feeling. Two drawbacks: 1) To my ears, once the volume gets over about 11 (of 30) it loses fidelity - which means I generally keep it a bit quieter than I'd like. Below those levels the sound is much better than other clock radio's at this price - it's really not bad at all. I'll try some high-end speakers soon to see if it's a speaker problem. 2) The cd door seems a bit flimsy. I've had 0 trouble after two weeks, but I've followed the advice on all the stickers to only use the open and play buttons to close the door. I'll report back if it breaks after my meticulous avoidance of touching the door. If this system was stolen today, I'd buy the same one again even if it cost more than the I paid the first time. That's about as good an endorsement as I can give.

Just right for the bedroom:
I wanted something small and attractive for my bedroom without compromising the sound quality. I love it! If I had to change one thing it would be the "touch" sensors on the top of the unit are super sensitive. Every time my cats walk across the nightstand or I simply wipe the dust off the top it changes from Radio to CD or to Line. Great little microsystem.
