The best solution for a fine, inexpensive purchase that WORKS!:
My wife loves to vacuum (SHE not me). We've gone through a few brands over time and there has always been issues. My wife vacuums our house (1200 square feet) at least twice a day. Since she had this one we have stuck with it (on our second now). This Hoover model has been her favorite for several reasons: 1) it's very light, simple controls, easy to manage. 2) it has a pedal lever which raises the front in a locked position so's you can move effortlessly from hardwood to rug (BIG plus for my wife). 3) it's inexpensive at @ $100.00 (BIG plus for me). 4) the size is compact enough to fit where others bulked. 5) we have lots of animals in-house and it does a great job with the pet hair (for 6 cats and 2 dogs). 6) it can be assembled in under 2 minutes (I just hated putting together other brands),...and just 1 tiny screw (phillips) to tighten (BIG BIG plus for me, the assembler). 7) a fine contingent of attachments onboard for those funky areas, and easy switching from direct to attached feature. 8) power is sufficient for our carpet, throw rugs, and hardwoof floors. 9) replacement HEPA filters, belt and brush applicator are easy to replace if needed (find/order). 10) very easy to empty cannister and reset (BIG plus for me). 11) auto-rewind works great! No jamming (BIG plus for her). Here's the only rub: there are 2 schools of thought regarding a household vacuum. Buy a good expensive brand that lasts 5+ years or older, but you gotta put up with whatever designers offer in features. OR Our first purchase of THIS brand/model lasted 18 months after LOTS of use. A repairman/seller stated it just was'nt worth fixing because these inexpensive models are almost like a "solid-state" unit meant to discard once it "gives-up-the-ghost". Perhaps, assuming the problem is internal and not just a maintenence issue (ie belt,filter etc et al) THIS model might last you longer, maybe not. However, for the price I paid and the thrashing it got? I'm with the 2nd school of thought: it lasted 18 months and we were totally happy with it. We just recieved our replacement ordered from amazon. Life goes on, so does the dirt. Never better with a happy wife!

Excellent vacuum - great deal for the money:
I bought this vacuum cleaner to use while I was living in a temporary apartment -- thinking it was cheap and wouldn't last long -- especially the rewind feature. WRONG! This is a really good vacuum cleaner. It cleans well, it is easy to empty, and the cord rewinder works! I'm ordering a second one to give to my recent college grad -- for use in his first apartment.

vacuum cleaner:
this is by far the best vacuum cleaner that I owned. far better than the last Hoover model. Cleans great,easy to empty,also the auto rewind for the card is excellent. also the price is reasonable.

upright vacum:
This is a great sweeper for the money. You wouldn't believe what it picked up after using my old electrolux for 2 weeks. At this price I can buy a new one every year if I have to, time will tell. Love the retractable cord.

Terrible product for homes with pets:
We have 3 Labradors and a cat, which is admittedly a difficult home for a vacuum. This vacuum works for about 1 minute before clogging. Even after thoroughly sweeping the floor it clogs within minutes. I wish I could return the product as at this point it is a waste of money taking up space in the house. In a pet free household this might be a fine vacuum, but I would avoid the product if you have or are planning to have any fur in your home.
