Basic and simple Common Sense: With a little humor, much common sense, and basic plain-spoken language, Mr. Huckabee gives attainable targets for feeling better, thinner and healthier. He does not create lofty ideals from the start that are unrealistic. This book is simple, short and very easy to read and understand. He does not fill you with bizarre recipes, expensive ingredients, or try to sell you "the plan's" meals and supplements. He offers basic friendly advice showing you that you CAN do it, how he did it and how he got to be where he needed to do it.
Talk about inspiration, Thank you Governor!: After catching Huckabee's new show on Fox the last couple of weeks, I learned that this ex-governor has lost a tremendous amount of weight. I didn't know too much about him before but after a little research, I found out that Mike Huckabee had written this book. I immediately checked it out of the local library, read it right away and I'm so impressed that I've ordered my own copy. What a great book! For anyone who needs to change their eating habits and make a lifestyle change, I would highly recommend this book. Leave it laying where you can always see the cover, the lean governor holding a photo of the fat one, what a reminder that this can also happen to me.
Great Book: I really enjoyed this book,it is like I am looking in the mirror and seeing a reflection of myself.I love food. After reading this book I have decided to start a new life style and start to cut out the foods that I know can do my body harm.
Cold Turkey approach might not be for everyone: (Crossposted from LibraryThing) Despite what you think about Gov. Huckabee's politics, you can't deny his success in weight loss. He gives some good tidbits in this book, but be warned that his approach is a cold turkey approach that might not be right for everyone.
Book purchase: Very good book, halfway through. Author has a wonderful sense of humor making it an easy read.
