Terrible Audio, Marginal Content:
I was very disappointed with this DVD. The first bad impression was made when I heard the terrible audio. The voice and live tracks are poorly mixed, and the voice audio seems to be clipping (i.e. like when you turn the volume up too high and your speakers can't handle the load). There were sections of the video where Dresdner is sanding a piece of wood, and trying to explain what he's doing in a voice-over narration of the scene, but you really can't hear what he's saying (unless you strain real hard), because the background audio track (the sanding) is turned up WAY too high. Garbage. About content: Well, the DVD spends WAY too much time discussing sanding, and showing you how to sand. The steps are repeated. While I understand the emphasis, wouldn't it just have been easier to look the viewer straight in the eye and say "SANDING IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY important," rather than wasting a third of the 65 minute video on sanding? Personally, I would have preferred more detail about the finishing techniques. If I could, I would return this video - it's that bad. I didn't learn very much from watching it, but then again, it is a BASICS video . . .
