My cats love this scratching post:
I bought this for my two cats because I wanted to see how they interacted with cat furniture before I bought something larger and more expensive. They both love this scratching post. My younger 1 year old cat was shimmying up the posts before I had even finished attaching the top platform. My cat loves the hanging pom poms, which hang from elastic so they spring away when he lets go, he especially enjoys sitting on the platform and reaching under to grab a toy. A few aspects to note about the scratching post: It is very easy to assemble, it comes with a one page illustrated diagram and an allen wrench is supplied so no other tools are needed. The posts don't have to be placed in the order that they are illustrated in, I altered mine so that there was one long sisal post, one fur post and one sisal/fur post. I was supplied with 8 hanging toys, and there are 7 locations to hang toys from - one on each of the mini ledges and 4 from the top platform. There are a few minor downsides to this product. It is a little unstable, I have to keep this in the corner so it won't tip over when either cat makes a power jump from the platform. The other advantage to placing this in a corner is that it decreases the likelikhood that my younger cat will roll off it, this is probably reflects the nature of my cat more than it does the scratching post though. The other downside is that the hanging pom pom toys won't last too long, my younger cat likes to pull the individual strands out. I attached the toys using slipknots, so I can replace them with some of my cats favourite catnip filled toys.

I've had this at least six months now. She's 13 months old today and is still using this scratcher! I'm glad for it too, my last cat liked my couches better. All that's needed for this are extra yarn balls. Millie had her favorite one torn off and in pieces in less than a week. She even managed to take off the elastic band that holds it on. It's very durable, not all carpet like some, and not all rope either. She picks and chooses when to use which side so it's still looking new. I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone with a cat.
