I am a huge fan of Tahiti and Hawaii and the delicious Polynesian island scents. I don't like perfume (usually way too strong for my sensitive nose!), preferring the more subtle scents of essential oils. I have been using these oils after every shower for many years. The are not at all greasy, smell wonderful and keep my skin baby soft. I buy several different bottles at a time, as I enjoy all of the different scents. The vanilla, while subtle, gets lots of notice--although most people don't realize the scent is coming from me! They just think the office smells like candy or cookies! The coconut reminds me of suntan lotion, the pitate of Hawaii. The ylang-ylang is one of my favorites. If you love the strong scent of perfume, these subtle scents might not be for you. But if you are looking for a good body oil, love soft skin and smelling lovely all day, you will love these oils. Fabulous, but very sweet and thick -- like it's supposed to be!:
I think this product does just fabulously for what it is. In a base of coconut oil, they steeped some very very sweet smelling flowers. Some people find them delightful, others overwhelming. I find it varies with my mood. The pure coconut oil base is excellent for coarse hair, rough elbows/knees/feet and any other part of the body that could benefit from a thick, unctuous moisturizer/protective barrier. As the scent (tipanie/frangipani/plumeria -- all names for the same thing) is infused in a saturated fat, it takes a long time for it to fade. I like this -- and as a result, tend to use it in small quantities as an accent scent. I'll only douse myself with it in high summer when the high heat will evaporate most of the scent off my sweaty body rather rapidly. The scent is genuine, not perfumey, but I can't say this enough -- very very sweet. Probably why one reviewer didn't like the product.
Not for a "true vanilla lover"!:
When I applied this for the first and only time I had to immediately take a shower because the smell of this product was literally nausiating!
Frangipani Heaven:
Ohhhh- what a delightful fragrance Monoie Tipanie has! A little bit can be used as a scented bath oil, but my favorite use is to mix a bit with some Alba Botanica organic body lotion for an all-over treatment. It gives off a faint but delightful scent for hours and hours.
