Seems way under-rated to me:
I bought a pair of these at Sears for $8. I liked them so much I went back and bought their last set. I registered the satellite handset from the second set as the #3 handset on the base unit I'm using, and am keeping the fourth phone and #2 base unit as a backup. The phone doesn't feel any "cheaper" than any other new cordless phones I've played with in stores. Like any phone it takes a few minutes to get used to the menus and buttons. I actually think the 50 entry phone book is much easier to use that my old 900Mhz Uniden and AT & T cordless models. I can't understand the complaints about the volume from other reviewers. I'm actually slightly hard of hearing, and it sounds quite loud when the volume is set or 4 or 5. If that isn't enough, just hit the Talk/Speaker button and I guarantee you it will be LOUD enough! It's plenty loud to work as a portable speaker phone if you are in a small room. Range seems good - I've used it in the front yard with no problem. These are supposedly 2.4Ghz spread spectrum - that means your voice is transmitted digitally, not an analog signal which is much less secure. I have no 2.4Ghz WiFi or other equipment anywhere nearby in the rural area in which I live, and have had absolutely no interference. If you are in an RF noisy urban environment, then a DECT 6.0 phone might be a better choice. As further icing on the cake, the 150 minute calling card that is included supposedly can be used on ANY phone in the normal way. The calling card alone is probably worth the purchase price. I haven't used the cards yet, and won't be using them with the American Telecom phones since I already have an IP phone service with free long distance. NOTE: You can actually get these phones for FREE several places if you want to wait on mail-in rebates. I hate rebate scams personally, and never buy anything with a MIR unless the price before the MIR is already very good.
