One Fine Read!: If you like romance (the true love kind, of course), action, adventure and humor, then Janice Sims' One Fine Day is the book for you. From the perils of running a vineyard in Sonoma Valley to murderous international intrigues, the story follows Sara Minton - once a desperate young widow - as she learns to live and love again. And Sara's not the only who gets a second chance; many of the books' other colorful characters get a shot to shine and love as well.
One Fine Day Is Superbly Written: After waiting with great anticipation for the last novel of the Bryant Trilogy, readers will find that Author Janice Sims certainly did not disappoint them. If I didn't know better and know the fine craftsmanship of this author and her habit of putting her all into each story, I'd think she was purposely saving the best one for last. Well purposely or not, Sims certainly exited this series with a bang! A bang so loud that it will have you sighing in regret that the Bryants did not have more than three children. In this story about the baby of the family, Jason Bryant and Sara Minton, Sims keeps our attention with questions regarding the secrecy of Sara's life and why she won't accept Jason's proposal. True to form, she also shows us strong family characters as Jason gets taking to task by his family when he tries to pout over Sara's refusal to marry him right away. I absolutely love the way Sara shines forth as a strong heroine in this story. Unwillingly to abruptly trade one important thing for the other (her work with Aminatu's daughters and her love for Jason), but working to find a way to do what she thinks is best for all parties involved. Since this reader believes Sims is at her finest when she intertwines action and adventure with romance. Then readers, when they finish reading this latest offering from sims, will have no problem understanding why this book is amongst my favorites of her novels. Sims uses delightful secondary characters to bring well written action and adventure scenes into the story. So delightful that you'll question if we could possibly talk Sims into making this the Bryant and FRIENDS Series instead of the Bryant Trilogy. But if it must be a Trilogy, I must say Sims picks one heck of a way to end the series! This last novel is bound to please the readers as Sims takes them on a journey of love, family, action and adventure! So much so that One Fine Day could certainly and appropriately be dubbed, One FINE novel! Kudos to Author Sims. And readers, don't miss this one!
A time for decisions: ONE FINE DAY captures the essence of the Bryant's California vineyard. Jason Bryant has given up his career as an attorney and returned home to operate the family business. He realizes for maybe the first time in his life, he is responsible for something other than himself, and Jason feels he is ready for the challenge. Upon his return he is immediately aware that he has feelings for Sara, a young woman whom he ignored in high school. When he last saw her she was a shy, chubby girl, but when he sees her at his brother's wedding, the changes are dramatic. Sara Minton returned to the valley six years ago after she lost her husband. At the lowest point of her life when living lost its savor, she was introduced to a secret organization that helps women and children in danger. This act of fate added meaning to Sara's life and is solely responsible for her resurgence. Because of the organizations strict rules about certain personal issues, Sara faces a difficult choice when she reconnects with Jason. Before she can come to terms with her decision, her life is threatened. Now the weight of the decision falls on Jason, is he man enough to make it? ONE FINE DAY, the third book in the Bryant trilogy, reminds readers that love is worth waiting for, and worth fighting for. In true Sims' style, we are immediately juxtaposed in the drama of Jason, surrounding the winery, and the danger of Sara, surrounding her secret missions, as they try to balance their emotional relationship. The characters are human and embraceable, and they give readers a sense of worth and commitment. Sims has enchanted me again. Reviewed by aNN of The RAWSISTAZ(tm) Reviewers
Satisfying conclusion to a smart, sexy trilogy: ONE FINE DAY is the third and final book in the Bryant family trilogy that began with WAITING FOR YOU, followed by CONSTANT CRAVING. The series takes place in the Sonoma Valley where the Bryants, a family of African-American vintners, own and manage a working vineyard. In this final book of the series, Sara Minton, a bookstore owner, is in love with Jason Bryant, one of her tormentors back when she was an overweight and insecure high school student. Now he's a dashing attorney returned to his hometown to take charge of the family vineyard. Although Jason wants to marry Sara, she is reluctant to commit. She's gotten beyond their past but she has secret obligations that she must fulfill before she can give herself fully to Jason. This leaves him feeling suspicious of Sara's sincerity and doubtful of their relationship. Sara and Jason struggle with whether their relationship can survive not having all the cards are not on the table. When Sara's secret turns deadly, Jason has to decide whether he will have her back as he once promised, and Sara must decide whether she can trust Jason with her feelings, if not her secrets. As always, Janice Sims has crafted a tale that is equally romantic and intellectually stimulating. Sara, her roommate Frannie, and the Amazon-like Willow, all members of Aminatu's Daughers, a secret organization of women, are the latest in a long line of smart, sassy, and self-empowered heroines readers have come to expect from a Sims' romance. Not to be outdone, Jason too hails from a rich heritage of handsome, intelligent, and sexy-to-the-bone heros. Then there's the humor found in having an African-American woman as the Secretary of State, a fictional Condoleeza Rice, if you will. Add to this mix, Ms. Sims's penchant for exploring subjects uncommon to romance novels--in this case, African-American wine growers--and ONE FINE DAY yields a very satisfying read.
