Performs according to its intended function.: The advertisers claim that the Samurai Shark can resharpen a dull knife to conditions similar to when it was brand new. It works wonders on knives. However, I would not recommend using this product on anything else other than dull blades that used to be sharp. Also, the way the device works is by shaving off the sides of the blade to create a finer edge. Do not use this product on blades that you intend on getting professionally done. Basically put, the Samurai Shark is a cheap, no-brainer way to resharpen cheap blades that you can replace eventually when it's no longer possible to resharpen them. It does not go beyond what it was designed for.
Yes, It really Does Work: I can't believe I'm saying this: the Samurai Shark really does work. When I'm cutting meat, vegtables, onions or soft items like tomatoes and the knife pushes down without cutting, I bring out this little gizmo, place it on the edge of the counter and run the knife through a few times; It's amazing! It really does put a sharp edge on the knife. I don't recommend it over a real knife sharpening; it's really a terrific bandaid to a knife that's lost it's edge. We always say about the stuff we see on the TV - don't buy stupid stuff. Well, this little item does work and I recommend it with a smile.
Well...: Hi, I bought a product exactly like this, when it was sold on HSN years ago when they were the only ones to offer it... It is an exact model of this product, the only differance is that the name is not on it.. The claim was that it had been a common product from Norway, or somewhere like that... I may be stupid, but the claim that it sharpens sissors is a bit odd... I will say that it sharpens knives amazingly, but after about 10 years of trying, I still have yet to figure out how to sharpen sissors... From the previous reviews, the directions for this product are very short without any detail... Maybe one day I will read here that they added more detailed directions, and if so, I will buy it... Meanwhile, I will attempt to keep going, trying to sharpen my sissors, or I'll buy a sharpening stone...
Samurai Shark Sharpener: This item is harder to work than the commercials show. It does a pretty good job, but not as good as the claims made for it.
Samurai Shark Sharpener: The sharpener works great as advertised - I save a lot money from not sending the knives out.
