Philips 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame with 6.5-inch Display ...

Categories:

very pleased:
Bought this for my husband for Christmas. Very easy to upload pictures and picture quality is good. He was happy.

Usable picture area.:
Very satisfied with unit due to the fact that we researched it prior to purchase and knew that there was a picture size limitation. If you use pictures from your digital camera without modifying the size you will only use about 75% of the frame. We haven't tried to modify pics so not sure about results. Picture color and clarity was good, menus' very useable with many choices. Good value for the money.

Okay... JUST okay... for the money:
This "newer version" of the 6.5" model does NOT have a resolution of 800x480 as advertised. According to the specs on the box, it has a resolution of 720x480. I am not finding the picture particularly crisp, and the color is less than spectacular. I wanted a smaller frame for my desk at work, so that I did not have to have multiple picture frames and loose photos cluttering up my workspace. This frame is what I was looking for in terms of size, but that is probably its best attribute. The overall features are okay, but the controls are awkward and difficult to manipulate. I will give this frame a reasonable test run under office lighting, but I may just remove my SD card and send it back if I am not happy. The $79.00 price was very enticing, but now I am wondering if I should have spent an extra $20.00 or so, and purchased the 7" Sony model on sale through other websites. I have purchased several other digital frames over the last two years, and I must say, this is the most disappointing purchase of all of them.

Nice product, good build quality, miserable battery life:
Purchased this for my wife to use in her display booth at trade shows. Hard to beat the build quality, I have used the 7" model before so was familiar with the menu system; no real surprises. Minus points for our use was the battery life and the auto rotate feature. Tried it out at home first, loaded in a SD card with maybe 10 photos and let it run at medium brightness. Within an hour I received a "battery low" warning and within 15 minutes it shut itself off. Pretty poor considering laptops with larger screens can easily get 4 hours and this is with running everything else i.e. processor + hard drive + graphics + memory etc etc. The auto rotate picture did not seem to work properly, landscape pics were not rotated unless you held the device upsidedown; still have to figure this one out! Bottomline, if you have access to an electrical outlet, no problems, but if you are looking for a standalone unit for use away from an outlet for any significant length of time, look elsewhere or go with a smaller screen.

NEVER worked:
We purchased two of the same frame for grandparents for Christmas. Neither one of them work right out of the box. Both screens would not come on at all. We have purchased the bigger sized version and love it. It was better quality no doubt.
